Bermuda Aircraft Registry Benefits Offshore

OFFSHORE REGISTRATION

When looking to register your aircraft you have two options, onshore and offshore registration. The Bermuda Aircraft Registry is classified as ‘offshore’, which means that it has attractive benefits to aircraft owners and operators that are based outside of the country, and meet the eligibility requirements. Bermuda’s Aircraft Registry has earned a solid reputation internationally for being safe and well-regulated. It is owned and managed by the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority, who are in full compliance with the Standards and Recommended Practices of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). The Bermuda Registry includes a mix of private and commercial aircraft based all over the world. Commercial aircraft are operated on a Bermuda AOC or under Article 83 bis Agreements of the Convention on International Civil Aviation.

THE BENEFITS OF THE BERMUDA REGISTRY

  • COST
Bermuda’s fees are very competitive. When compared to most other registries, costs are significantly lower.

  • TAX NEUTRALITY
Bermuda has zero income, corporate, withholding or capital gains taxes. By registering an aircraft in Bermuda, owners and operators may be in a position to take advantage of favourable tax treatment in their principal place of business.

  • MAINTENANCE
The majority of aircraft on the Bermuda registry are inspected every two years. Other registries may require an inspection on a yearly basis, increasing overall costs.

  • POLITICAL NEUTRALITY
Bermuda is a politically neutral country with a stable economy, which may be important to operators for political, corporate or security reasons. Bermuda is a self-governed United Kingdom overseas territory.

  • ASSET PROTECTION
The Bermuda Aircraft Registry offers asset protection through both the Cape Town Convention and Aircraft and Aircraft Engine Mortgage Registers.

  • TURNAROUND TIME
Following document review and inspections approval can be issued within 48 hours.

  • TRANSFERRABLE STANDARDS
Aircraft from another registry can be registered in Bermuda easily with minimal expense, and if subsequently sold, they can easily be exported to another jurisdiction. Bermuda accepts Type Certificates from the ANAC (Brazil), EASA, the FAA and Transport Canada.

  • TRANSFERABLE APPROVALS
If you have Cayman approvals you can receive CAMO, AMO and Operational approvals based on your Cayman approvals. There is no charge for these approvals and you only need to make a request for such an approval and provide the Cayman documentation to BCAA.
